Did Vandy pick to play in evening session? They not give the 5 a choice?
Usually your 1 seed gets choice and your 5 seed gets choice in this setup

I have no idea, but to my knowledge no one gets to choose their time slot. Same thing in the basketball tournament, albeit they do it backwards with the top seed playing all early games. But if it were up to me, I don't think I'd choose a 9:30 AM start time.
