I’ve got a basset bound that’s lost both eyes to glaucoma (the first when he was 4 years old and the other a year later) and he gets around like you couldn’t even notice he was totally blind. Seriously incredible.

I found a 20 lb matted haired Heinz 57 mutt whimpering in a ditch by a parking lot once and we took it home. This is when I learned what cataracts were.

The dog was 95% blind and I don't know how it had ever survived so long. But, with a steady diet and some love, this little thing thrived as best it could.

When someone comes in the door and all the other dogs raise their heads to look, she would raise her good ear, and point it towards the door. Then having the place mapped out by smell and sound, she'd find her way to a good person's feet and lay her head on top of their shoe. And then when a good person would pull her up and put her in their lap and pay her attention, God himself teared up a little. I bet. frickin dogs, man.
