I guess we can agree to disagree. I absolutely don't believe LSU was an elite team last year either. However, regardless of how Auburn looked at times during the 2017 season, they managed to lose 4 games and gave up a 20+ unanswered points to an average LSU team who totally dominated them in the second half. That's not an indication of a great team.

That being said, Georgia's 2018 schedule was on par with LSU's schedule, neither of which were all that impressive. Are you saying the Bulldogs were elite last year?

Not even close, why woudl you think that? I don't think LSU was elite last year either so not sure where you'd get that from.

I think we can probably even look at subgenres of "great or elite" teams in relation to the season as a whole as it relates to the topic at hand, which in this case is the quality of teams Richt and Kirby faced in certain years. Take 2013 UGA for example. Outstanding team early that beat 2 top 6 teams in September, but was decimated by injuries and lost 5 games. Were they elite? Not even close. But the '13 UGA team that beat LSU was a far, far different one than the '13 UGA that lost to vandy.

I think Richt faced an elite UT and UF in 01. None of the 14 teams in 02 would qualify. Then LSU twice in 03.

I do think the '17 version of AU that kirby faced in November was a great/borderline elite team. Same with Bama and OU that year, and bama last year.
