They drafted a player with much higher potential than Sexton.

People really do like to shite on a player that averaged 17 PPG on solid volume efficiency in his rookie year (not talking about you specifically, but in general). He even shot 40% on nearly 4 attempts per game from 3, which was considered one of his biggest weaknesses. The biggest complaint about him remaining? He’s not a true PG and while he’s an intense defender, gets lost on defense. Darius Garland is a player that went 5th in a 3-player draft. He was the 14th compositely ranked player in his recruiting class. Played 5 collegiate games. And went 5th in the draft. Think about that. His known flaws: bad defender and had more turnovers than assists in his five games.

Give me Sexton any day and all days of the week.

Theyre just different players. It will be interesting to see how they are utilized. Just a bad decision imo if you intend on keeping Sexton. They will got abused by bigger guards.

Agree with you BigBird, was about to say the same thing. What Sexton has more than anything is a fierce competitive nature, desire to work hard and harder to get better and not rest and rely on his talent. That is what a supreme athlete needs to achieve greatness.
NBA is full of athletic freaks but men are separated from the boys by the work put into their game. Obscene amounts of money kills the upward trajectory of most careers.
Motivation dies quickly. IF Sexton remains humble and dedicated to the game he can be a Hall of Famer.

His player efficiency rating was only 12.1. That was #16 for rookies and #232 amongst qualified players
Per ESPN

He is a great scorer but he has a huge journey ahead of him to provide value as a point guard running the offense
