Because the NCAA can still nail Wade for conspiracy or making an offer or some shite while not being able to prove Javonte knew anything or ever actually got paid. LSU only cleared Javonte because they couldn't find any evidence the kid knew anything or actually got paid.

And the fact that Wade didn't flat deny that's him on the wiretap is a strong signal he's not innocent and is looking out for himself and not LSU.
