There’s good money to be made but from what I’ve seen, overseas ball isn’t an ideal life for most kids coming out. It seems to be quite the grind and difficult to adapt to. However, you obviously can also become a “superstar” over there a lot easier than the NBA.

We have a family friend who's son played in Spain for about 10 years and made a lot of money. It's definitely not as glamorous as the NBA, but I'd take living in Madrid for a decade making good money playing basketball over living somewhere like Milwaukee for a little more money. I think he was making around $1MM for the last couple years. The top salaries over there are usually in the $2-3MM range, with some making upwards of $4MM.

He came back and got a job here, but he can probably go ahead and retire any time he wants to.
