And Alabama freaked out about a snow storm that didn’t happen...again...

The problem is people are still overreacting to Snowmageddon back in 2014. Any potential snow/ice storm is compared to that cluster when the reality is that was literally a perfect storm for chaos. So we see this cycle where local news, who want the ratings, give a potential snow event wall-to-wall coverage. Then people start to get amped over it, which creates more hype. You have douchebags like James Spann who then use it as way to expand their brand and just pepper social media with updates & such. Then parents start assaulting school administrators about if the schools will close. The schools then close which force businesses to close.

We hear this "Better to be safe than sorry" nonsense from media and administrators but that's silly when the city of Birmingham is being shutdown a day in advance for a couple of inches of snow. We need to go back to common sense way of doing this which is for schools/businesses to monitor these events day of and make the call early in the morning.

It's getting ridiculous because these busts are happening every year. Of course the local media starts clutching their pearls when anyone criticizes them. Nevermind the fact that they had "wall-to-wall" coverage last night with all sorts of graphics & banners that made it look like a hurricane was coming ashore.
