I have a question and I hope people don't think I am being rude because I am not.

Is it a Catholic thing?

Hear me out.

What I mean by that is I visited Boston in 2001 and noticed how so many folks up there felt like they were cursed even though the Celtics were one of the all time great sports franchises. Of course this was before the curse of the Bambino was broken, and the Pat's hadn't won anything.

And not necessarily just cursed, but also like they knew they were going to have bad luck or even that the deck was stacked against them.

I though maybe since Boston is largely Roman Catholic, as is New Orleans and I would guess at least the southern part of the state if not the majority of Louisiana, maybe it is more of a thing to believe in stuff like that among Catholics. I don't know, just asking.

Just looked up the demographics and Protestants outnumber Catholics 2-1 in LA, so I guess that shoots the shite out of my theory. Oh well

That's a fair question.

New Orleans for instance is known as "the city that care forgot" meaning this. Please feel sorry for us.

I am a Catholic and believe it or not Louisiana’s Catholic population amounts to only 1/3 of the total. You may be onto something I would assume it would take somebody to actually study the way in which Catholics deal with distress over the other denominations. Despite what the OP has to say about Louisiana and its fans we are basically a happy people even though we realize that we are a poor state. But our spirit is strong and yes we are passionate about all things.

New Orleans has a lot more Catholics, per capita, than the rest of the state. Of the 64.9% of New Orleans residents that identify as being religious, 36.3% are Catholic and only 18.4% Protestant. 5.1% identify as non-denominational Christians.
