Is the American shopping mall still a valid option for surviving the zombie apocalypse?

quote:

A national retail apocalypse has crippled US malls as anchor stores such as Macy's and Sears, which take up large retail spaces and drive foot traffic, have shuttered stores and left malls with enormous gaps to fill. This has also put pressure on smaller retailers, such as Brookstone, that rely on the foot traffic generated by these larger department-store chains.

quote:

In 2017, more than 6,400 stores closed, and another 3,600 are expected to shutter in 2018. According to a report by Credit Suisse, this will result in 20-25% of malls closing in the next five years.

Add to this all the malls that are poorly maintained now, and it makes me question if all those movies and games with zombies in malls are dated when it comes to survival strategies.

If you think about it, them being shuttered only makes them more defensible.

Its the loss of items that becomes the issue.
Fewer restaurants in the food court means less food
Fewer sears means you wont be able to get the vacuum cleaner you need to clean up Cheeto dust lost after a few trips to the vending machines
The mall becomes no better than a closed k mart

Geez, the fat has really taken over every topic on this board. Like the Borg or something.

Look, you have to evaluate malls in the wider scheme of things, compared to other options they still come out on top over big box stores, gas stations, jails, etc.

Cheeto dust is powdered cheese. You started a thread about loving ramen with powdered cheese

Are you really arguing the qualities of powdered cheeses to me?

This is truly out of control.

Lew, please rename this blighted hellhole the Obese-Topics Board and then ban me.

You're becoming more repetitive than V&S. Is this really your shtick now?

What’s wrong with V&S’s approach? It’s quality.

My schtick is whatever I find entertaining at any given moment and right now it’s calling you two fat. Next week it’ll be something else.

MLK day plans.

As a person who’s only had sex with prostitutes I’m sure the holiday has special meaning to genro.

I got plans with your sister. We're gonna go to golden corral for a filling meal then go find someone's car to saran wrap before settling in for the night. Perfect day

I got a micro loan from the bank for this special day. I told them I was hosting a special event to celebrate MLK properly, they signed the check immediately

I'm working tomorrow. Means nothing to me. Yeah I'm up too late. I'll be drinking coffee in a few hours. Black.

We’re in roughly the same age cohort if you were born when you said you were. Just riff off it and you’ll eventually get it.

I wanted to give back to the community with my celebration tomorrow. The saran wrapped cars will surely convey that

Does the Saran Wrap have some kind of special symbolism in the scenario?
