Thats your first problem with the tree rats in your house. The bird feeder. You need to buy one that closes when the tree rat goes for the seeds. You have a steady supply of food for them with that type of feeder. Spend the extra $$ (around $60) on a feeder that closes and I guarantee you will see a drop in tree rats in and somewhat around your house. Or - get a cat.

For most of the year the squirrels couldnt get to it. They couldnt climb the powder coated metal, and couldnt jump high enough from the wood rail. But then they figured out how to climb the gutter, get on the roof, then jump down on top of the pergola. Then they found a way into the crawlspace in the guest room. Then they found strawberries in a trap. Now here we are.

The birdfeeder stays. The pergola stays.
