Of course, there is a tactical reason for this too. It's because during the front half of the conference schedule he is looking to expand his bench. He is trying to get more and more people in the game. He believes (and he learned this from Nolan) this should give him an edge later in the year.

And it's hard to argue with his numbers. Just need to carry that edge over into the tournament.

Most coaches try to shorten their bench as the season progresses. Mike does the opposite.

Look for him to start throwing some zone defense in the game plan at this point. The team will get stronger on defense as the season progresses as well.
