The state of TX has no say. Athletic departments are self funded and completely separate from tax-funded academics, buildings, etc.

A&M doesn't have to play them.

Don't kid yourself, there is a reason Reed Arena is what it is today (bland crap). It is because of Maw Richards and Bob Bullock!

Until aggy needs $14 million in loans from the academic side because they are broke (still not paid back), or has to saddle the taxpayer with a 30-year hotel tax to build a stadium to accommodate Alabama and LSU fans.
