No, it's actually very likely. He tested positive for ephedra, which was in Ripped Fuel at the time.

I believe the only controversy surrounding his positive test was that he claimed to be using an ephedra-free formula. THAT is not super likely, although contamination in the factory is possible. Tests of 58 supplements shortly before the ephedra ban (one year after Bates' suspension) showed that 25% of them contained unlisted ingredients.

Either way, it doesn't matter, as the NCAA doesn't give a shite whether it was intentional or not (and I'm sure it was intentional with Brown, Baker, and James). It's a year off.
