NS did not interview for the Bama job. They found their man and they went after him. At this level what you do on the field matters and that is your resume. The powers that be call up their agent and asks if they are interested. If they say yes then they hook up to negotiate the buyouts and the new contract. You don't go in for a formal interview cuz 3-4 people are being looked at for the Bama job. It is not like hiring an assistant and you might have 4-5 you like.

This. Certain boosters had Bobby lined up to accept the job, his dream job. It would have been a match made in heaven. Then Joab Thomas fricked it all up with his dumbass interview stuff. Bama would have never have wandered through the wilderness of the late 80’s and 90’s of bad coaches except for Stallings.
