An eight team ranking playoff is the best from a competition standpoint. Like someone else said, there are no bad games on that list.
The argument is going to be from the Pac 12.
2018: Pac 12 champion not in top 8. (Notre Dame and American Conference champion included though)
2017: All conference champions included.
2016: All conference champions included.
2015: All conference champions included
2014: All conference champions included.
If you gave the Power 5 auto bids, Washington would replace UCF in 2018. I think UCF with their QB is better than Washington.
