Ohio really wants to be the South. Rebel flags everywhere, sweet tea everywhere, "southern BBQ" joints everywhere. I'm not on the Kentucky line. I'm north of Columbus. It's not what I expected. Also there are video stores. Remember those? They still have them. I travel all over and never see them anymore. This place is backwards

The rebel flag stuff from people that are from the Midwest is cringey. Never understood why they did it. Yes, even in central Indiana you get those people. I went to high school with a quaker who's family had lived in the area for decades. Wore a rebel flag shirt that said "its not hate its heritage". Pretty stupid

There are a few still floatin around in Indiana but not many. And the ones that are, are hurting. One I saw last time I was back was renting out part of its space

To be fair the flag is seen less and less as a Southern thing in the Midwest and is becoming more and more common. I see it a fair amount up here, somewhere deep in the woods nearish to Canada, being flown by people who have no ties to the South and view it as a political statement.
