Bottom line: it’s not easy getting to the Elite 8; Final 4; and National Championship in a one and done tournament format.
Take Vandy as an example. They have an excellent basketball tradition and historic gym. Yet, they’ve only been to 3 or 4 Sweet Sixteens. Never higher. They’ve had great coaches over the past 30 years (Newton, Fogler, Stallings, Bryce) yet they’ve never broken through. I believe they were even a number one seed during one of the Fogler years and didn’t make it past the 2nd round.
Take Vandy’s history and compare it to Cal’s. No comparison. So, lay off the simplister “overrated” chant on the Rant.
