I actually think he's fairly accurate about young people..
I mean teens.
I also think it still depends upon location.
The younger sports fans I know still don't care much for college, they will watch it.. but they hardly even know the players.. many just follow fantasy football and the NBA.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

The NBA is easy to follow. You literally don't have to watch any games to stay on top of it.
Inner city kids who grew up in the 90s (with or without a team) learned about NBA before any other sport. Plus, there was MJ and then Kobe and Shaq right after that. Do you remember SI for kids? Those were very popular when I was a kid and the magazines were mostly NBA highlights and cards. That's how I remember it anyway.
