Mark Richt did the fake punt against us in the 2012 SECCG and it worked. Kirby tried it but had no chance with our punt coverage.

We were in punt safe both times. In '12, we failed to identify that the 2 gunners were lined up off the line leaving the end uncovered and therefore eligible. It was recognized immediately and add the fact that they sent their backup QB out there, it all but said a fake was coming.

I don’t think anyone on our staff should get a pass on the punt block call. It was just stupid. If you’ve played at any level or watched enough football you KNOW that when you have an all-out punt block called, it’s incredibly rare to not make contact with the kicker even though you teach it and preach it. They are going to run into the kicker. You hope they get ball too, but the punter is for sure. So unless it’s a desperation situation, you don’t call that on 4th and 2. On 4th and 6, yes. On 4th and 2, you call for the return, the fair catch or the soft block. Even soft block is risky. But for God sakes don’t call all out block and take the ball away from Waddle and or Tua and Co. That’s leaving points on the field which is exactly what we did.
