Chip Kelly's Recruiting

I never wanted him as our HC because of statements he made years ago that he hated recruiting...well he certainly does hate it. UCLA has only 9 commitments and NONE of them are even 4 stars. Gator fans would be pulling their hair out.

Wont lie, I wanted Chip because of his offense. But at the end of the day we got the right man for the job.

I watched all of those Fish Duck videos and was looking forward to seeing what he could do with Florida HS talent in that offense.
Not looking forward to getting pounded into dust by power football.

Chip Kelly with his heart in coaching: I'm all for it.
Chip Kelly who wants to retire rich: No thanks.
Chip would do well at Florida if he was motivated, but his recruiting isn't bad because he's a bad recruiter: UCLA is a terrible football program.
Most of you laughed at me because I said "Chip Kelly would only choose UCLA if he wasn't interested in coaching football long term", but that place has no prestige, takes the scraps USC leaves behind and has no interest in the program from a revenue standpoint.
If he came to Florida motivated, he would do very well -- but he chose a basketball school and it shows.

If we got Chip, I feel we'd be looking over our shoulder everytime an NFL OC or HC was fired because he said thats where he wanted t be.

I wanted Scott Frost #1 and Chip Kelly #2. I still think Frost will have Nebraska back to the top, but I was underwhelmed with the Mullen hire and I couldn't be happier now. If we can land a top 10 recruiting class I will be even happier.

Frost took over a really bad program, and...it's kind of funny because with both Frost and Chip -- they picked their colleges for other than football reasons.
Should have thought of their careers over everything else.
To dbuch: Agreed, Chip would go if he caught fire. Mullen is probably here for the long-haul.

I felt about the same way. I think Kelly and Frost would have done skit better at UF then the jobs they picked . I wasn’t big on the Mullen hire but I feel better now . I still think like Gus Mullen will need a athletic QB for his offense to truly work . But he seems to be doing a good job recruiting dual threat QBs here.

Myllen has good street cred developing QBs, now that hes at UF instead of State he should be pulling a top guy each year. He’s 2 for 2 already with the Jones boys.

Don't sleep on Richardson. I like that Mullen gets his QB first and then starts building around them/developing them much earlier. (I know, coaches don't legally do that, but I have no doubt that they're getting concept help and being talked about what to look for.)
He's a 3 star now, but in a few years he'll be a high 4 or 5 star.

Gonna be very interesting to see how our QB position plays out going forward.

Richardson is a stud. I expect him to be a high 4 star after the camp circuit this summer. Very similar to Fields IMO.

We need a new statue. Mullen will get us one like he did his last stay in Gainesville.
