After the disgrace of football, on to watch a team compete that is young and hungry. Really enjoying the attitude and aggressive nature of this basketball team, woo pig sooie!!

These guys are good.
That UT Arlington team was no joke. Those guys played hard-nosed ball. I wouldn't be surprised if those guys ended up in the NCAAt.

Hogs once again figured out what needed to be done to get that game in hand and just plugged away at it. Tonight they just kept after getting fouls on those guys and won with their bench.

Which is exactly what we had been hoping to see, more bench production. And better from the foul line. Check and check.

Loving this team.

Last count I remember those guys drew 5 charging fouls tonight. May have ended up being more. Gabe drew 3 and Joe drew 2. Just unbelievable defense.

Mike has the young teams attention. They play hard, very fun to watch.

I like this team. They play hard and nothing seems to shake them. It's a good group that will get better each game, and they're staunch on D.

With that said, there are holes. The D still always leaves guys wide open from 3 land. Our offense is inconsistent as hell, can't keep any rhythm.

These are pretty minor complaints considering how young this team is. Overall I'm pretty excited about this team. We're going to take a few lumps, but it will only be from a couple of teams. When you play good D it's rare to get ran off the court.

The first one astounds me really.. the latter may improve with experience. But the 1st has been a problem with MA;s teams period.

It's part of the defensive scheme, when you prioritize trapping and collapsing anytime someone tries to get penetration, you're always going to leave someone, the trick is to have guys athletic enough to get back to the line, which to be fair some of our guys have been really good at at least getting back and making it a somewhat contested shot. I think that has something to do with the fact that while we are giving up a lot of looks from deep, most of them aren't going in.

That will change when we hit SEC play. It's always been Mike's achilles heel along with rebounding. His philosophy is, frick rebounding and giving up the trey. We gonna wear them out in the second half.

Look you know I've been one of the biggest Mike haters on this board, but you aren't going to get me criticizing this defense much. Yeah, we leave a guy alone from time to time, but it's not nearly as much as it has been in the recent past, and there are many times where a guy will catch the ball open, but by the time he goes up and releases the shot, there's a hand within the region of the ball or in front of their face. I can 100% live with the effort I've seen on that side of the ball so far this year. The rotations and switches will get better as this team gets more experience and practice.

I also think the shot blocking on this team is going underappreciated. Not just inside, we blocked/tipped multiple jumpshots last night. There are a ton of long arms on this roster.

They may prove me wrong come SEC play, but I really doubt it.

I really don't see 9 SEC wins this year.

Right, wrong or indifferent, Yurachuckle is a s soft a Chadillac and won't fire Mike anyway.

What a ridiculous thing to say. You could point to any number of teams out there that run a similar system with great success. North Carolina for instance. West Virginia. Etc.

Saying "won't work" is such a ridiculous thing to say. Aside from just being wrong, it doesn't make sense to speak in absolutes like that. Especially when you don't know what you're talking about.

Last night, the first half was more than half over and that UT Arlington team had only made FOUR buckets.

He's going to take us to our 4th NCAAt in 5 years this year. Only a fool would call that anything but success.

I'm not interested in moving the goal posts. If he had made the sweet sixteen last year you would just say, "yeah, but no final fours."

Sorry, I don't play that shite. I live in the real world.
