I’d give the crowd more credit than Aranda. Penalties and busted plays were a bigger part of our mistakes than LSU just blowing us up with schematic advantages.

For example, sending the house on 3rd and 14 and having a tight end screen go for a first down is on Dave Aranda. He sat back when he should’ve blitzed and blitzed when he should’ve sat back. I thought he got too cute with trying to disguise his blitzes as well. Having your backers show blitz and then bail doesn’t work well against RPOs because they are out of position to defend it when the ball is snapped. LSU did that all night and Tua just threw the ball right into that vacated window. We stumbled in the red zone in the first half, but Alabama was marching up and down the field with little resistance long before the defense could blame fatigue. The guy is the savior so LSU fans have given him immunity when it comes to any sort of blame, but Mike Locksley took Dave Aranda to school and we ran the same shite we’ve run all year. When the lights came on he got entirely too cute. That isn’t unique to Aranda. Brilliant playcallers often get too caught up in showing their brilliance instead of just calling the right play relative to the situation.
