He is a game manager which is not a bad thing for teams that rely on the running game and defense to win. If you can't have a Heisman contender or future nfl qb, then having one who protects the ball is the next best thing. He draws teams off sides for first downs, and most importantly, forces team to beat LSU because LSU will not beat themselves with Joe in charge. He also has this uncanny ability to make defenses forget he can run, and then runs for critical first downs. The kid is savvy and I can see why he was so popular at tOSU.

At the same time you can also see why he wasn't starting.
