Silica is a type of rock salt meant to absorb small amounts of moisture.

You could literally eat 150 small packets of those things a day and the paper packing would be the only thing that would be an issue...only because your body cannot break down paper products (once it gets into your stomach).

I say this because my nephew bought a pack of beef jerky at a football game and everyone around me said that it was poisonous.

Why, then, would it be in a pack of beef jerky in the first place?

Too murder the eater, and everyone that shared his bag of perfectly good meaty snacks?

You can also eat the same small silica packs that come in new shoes...with no health hazards.

If you ever need to win a bet, use this one.

Salt is salt.

No one likes moisty beef jerky, and no one likes wet shoes that have been shipped on trucks that sit in outside lots in occasional rain.

Zero poisonous unless consumed by the scoop-full...due to it being a salt in the first place.

I don't care how many times you say it, pretty sure Si and O2 don't form an ionic bond.
