We can argue all day about whether or not Auburn should have 2 losses right now, but honestly, aren’t they still the same typical Auburn of the past.

Auburn had two successful seasons with Gus because of Cam Newton and Nick Marshal. Not because of something Gus did or didn’t do. Hell, Gus wasn’t even the head coach during Cam.

Yeah I wouldn't be comparing those two players.

Nick Marshall was arse. The fact that Gus almost won a natty with him says a little something, even if they were extremely lucky not to be a 4-loss team that season.

Right because all the coaches were salivating to coach a DB at the QB position.

I think them firing him would actually be a mistake and one reason a lot of SEC programs are in trouble right now.

It's completely unreasonable to expect your coach to contend for the national championship most years, it just is.

Malzhan's results at Auburn are at or above Auburn's historical expectations.

Alabama's abnormal level of consistent success, combined with the playoffs now being the end all be all of college football, have made fanbases expectations pretty unreasonable.

Auburn is an 8-5 program historically, with the occasional miracle season and a *national championship* every 50 years to keep the delusion of equivalency with college football bluebloods alive. This is documented and irrefutable.
