You're right, Lock could have had a decent night if the bad drops had been completions, even without YAC. I just meant that to win a Heisman on a less-than-elite team, you have to constantly carry the team. going 4-and-out late, instead of finding a way to move the team down the field, was a big setback for him. even in a loss, had the team had an impressive drive to pull within 1 score late, that's the kind of thing that fits a familiar narrative.

Don't forget that at 6'5 that Lock had 3 passes blocked at the line of scrimmage and he fumbled multiple times. He's still looked at as a very good qb, because even the great ones have bad games every once and awhile.
