I see it differently.

I don’t think he ever wanted to bring them back.

I think he was told by his boss they were coming back. And he begrudgingly obliged.

Then when he’s ranked #1 in country and earned some clout, he stood up and said “ Look , I’m Sick mf’ing Naban And I don’t believe in jersey gimmicks, so I ain’t doing it Greg!!”

And Greg backed down because Kirby was ranked #1 like I said. And had the clout to stand up to him unlike when he was the meek sheepish nervous first-time HC that went against his instincts because McGarity ordered him to do black jerseys.
