I don’t care if we aren’t as talented as our opponent. Hell I’ve come to expect that we aren’t going to load of our rooster with high profile recruits.

With that being said I do expect effort and more importantly heart from our guys. That’s why I love pulling for the Gamecocks. The second half of Saturday’s game made me realize that football is only a game and that their are more important things like a life threatening hurricane coming our way.

I hope the coaches watch the crap out of the game film and figure out what the hell happened to us so this shite doesn’t happen again. I rather have a bunch of 2 and 3 stars kids who will play their heart out than a bunch of 4 and 5 star punks who give up when they get hit in the mouth.

Maybe the right person for right now, but I don't see him last here 5 more years.
You could be right. I said on an earlier thread in "Rant" that I thought we were a couple of years behind UGA. I also said I now feel like we are 5 years behind and the gap is getting larger. I am not sure outside of an NCAA investigation sideshow (and no I don't think UGA is cheating) we will ever catch them.

I said this yesterday elsewhere, but feel like I need to say it again here.

If anyone thinks it's going to get better for us, short term, when UGA is pulling in Top 5 classes, and Clemson pulling in top 10 classes when we're recruiting in the mid to high teens, you're fooling yourself.

Last year, we had the 18th best class on 24/7 and rivals. UGA was #1,#1, Clemson was #7/#8.

Right now, we have the 16th best class right now on 24/7 and rivals. UGA is #1,#1, Clemson is #5/#8.

Simply looking at the numbers, if we try to go head up with those two teams, how are we going to surpass them? Simple answer is, we won't. They will continue to put better talent on the field for the foreseeable future (3-4 years) If we try to play their game, we're going to have similar results to last Saturday.

So the solution is to play a different game (in recruiting) then they are. Like Billy Bean said in money ball, "If we try to play like the Yankees in here, we'll lose to the Yankees out there." If we can't consistently recruit the cream of the crop players, we're going to have to knock our evaluations out of the park and recruit smarter and harder than those other teams. We're going to have to find the guys that fit our program from an athletic, work ethic and team culture point of view. THOSE are going to be the guys that will take you to the next level. Our coaches and players are going to have to work harder. We're going to have to play smarter. I trust our coaches and players to do this. It can happen, but it will take time.
