Has anyone ever taken a trip on Amtrak?

Was looking at it for the hell of it after seeing this map:
$250 to travel from ATL to Columbia, almost $1000 if you want a bed, and that's a 29h trip with a train change in DC.
I think it would be kind of cool see the country by train but what a terrible system.

I have. From Hartford to NYC. The white trash couple in the row in front of me was making out and she was getting finger blasted the whole time. Not the cleanest option, but definitely cost effective.

Y'all will never let me live this down.
I was on an Amtrak from Connecticut to SC. At one of the stations, a Mexican dude that spoke no English was assigned the seat next to me.
I thought nothing of it. It was around midnight and I had several more hrs till I arrived at my destination so I took an Ambien. Of course, it knocked me the hell out.
ETA: Accidentally hit submit.
Anyway, I woke up a few hrs later and found my shirt was unbuttoned and the dude's hand was up my skirt and attempting to explore the wrong "entrance." I slapped the shite out of him while simultaneously screaming for one of the attendants. When I told them what had happened, all while the Mexican man just sat there with a lewd smile on his face, they stopped the train and the police were waiting and he got a little side trip with them.
Amtrak gave me one of their "suites" as an attempt to make up for the incident.
Y'all wanted to know...well, there ya go.
