You've pretty much gotten your wish. While Baton Rouge is up sine 2010,the census estimates it lost population last year:

Baton Rouge MSA population estimates by year:

2010: 804,359
2016: 835,596
2017: 834,159

... an estimated loss of just over 1,400 people between 2016 and 2017.
