Saturday afternoon was pretty bad. It wasn't even very entertaining to watch. The USGA guy at least admitted as much in the post round interview.


I thought they somewhat redeemed themselves yesterday. Birdies were out there, while also being a really challenging set up. Still, the winner was the guy that could grind out pars.

In the end, it's pitiful that the USGA screwed up another US Open. Shinnecock Hills is a great test of golf. It didn't need to be tricked up and tested.

Yesterday, even after they softened the course it was a stern test, in the afternoon. Poor shots were punished. Great shots were rewarded.

They should have narrowed the fairways and left the greens alone, imo
