How do you know Schloss was looking for a pay raise?
He might of been trying to leverage something else. Like more money to pay assistants. Wasn't the TCU pitching coach in discussions to become the next Rice head coach then recently pulled his name from the discussion? Umm....
Or Maybe he wants to build some new training facilities or a bigger park.
The dollar figure Mississippi State was or wasn't offering might not of even mattered to Schloss. Just the fact that it was a program that the TCU AD thought was legit threat to hire away Schloss.

Well I'm pretty sure he wasn't looking for a pay cut. Cohen knows exactly how much Schloss is making, and he's not even going to contact him unless he can offer an attractive deal.
I'm not certain of any specific numbers being thrown around, but to even have a conversation with a Schloss about the job State has to offer over $1M, and probably North of $1.5.
