Is Mooney still running that track? Yes you say. Well screw that I won’t be there.

Why the hostility?
Because he runs that track in the banks dime and has no problem screwing people to make sure he can pay the note.

I'm going to need the whole story.

If Mooney has a big show he goes to the bank and takes out a loan for the purse money.
Last year at the topless it rained about an hour before hot laps. Everybody sits in their cars waiting to see what is going to happen. Track announces they are going to run but it will take a while to get started. Everybody shells out the $25 a head to get in and once Mooneybgets word that the concession stand has sold the food they made he cancels for the night. He doesn’t get hosed in the concessions and gets the gate money plus whatever he makes the next day.
I don’t know if you have ever heard of the Altell 100 but it was a big 100k to win modified show. IIRC there were like 400 modifiers preentered the show. I don’t know it as gospel truth but word around some shops was Jeff Floyd (Mooney’s relative) got short changed on his 20k second place money.
Love the racetrack up there, nothing better than hearing the echo in the valley, but I walked away from there after last year.

there was a comment very similar to this on their review comment page of their facebook page. Did you post that?

Nope
I’ve just been around dirt track racing for 20 years and know how they place operates. Mooney hacked a lot of people off last year and it will cost him in the future.

I sat in the same mess with my 2 yr old and wife. I threw the tickets on the ground on the way out because I knew they were useless. IIRC they even went as far as telling people they could be used for admission to this years topless.
Mooney can’t even get 50 people to show up weekly right now so pissing everybody off at his biggest money maker wasn’t the smartest idea.
I’ll never forget the time he thought it would be a great idea to book Travis Tritt and nobody showed. He lost his butt on that one.

Darla Yarbourgh chose dirt track racing over diapers.

Mooney would make money hand over fist doing a combo weekend. 10k to win Late Model show and a big concert.
Friday night qualifying followed by Lucero
Saturday Night the feature followed by a name like Eric Church.
No support classes just the Late Models and Music.
Friday Night $30
Saturday Night $45
Weekend Pass $70
You would have a bunch in it but if you could easily clear a ton as well. If you had 5k just purchase Friday tickets and 15k purchase Saturday you’ve made $750,000 before you add in concessions. Plus you have introduced more people to your track that normally wouldn’t show up. Your expenses would probably be $600,000 by the time you pay purse and everything else.
Get a private club license and start selling beer and that goes up exponentially.

One year we went, your ticket number would be entered at the drawing for a new car. They called 2 or 3 numbers and nobody had them. Finally, the last number some guy won and Mooney said what's your name? Someone yelled and said that's your brother in law of course you know him.

I miss the Gibson’s having West Plains. They put on a first class show and run it right.

I've always said Popeye's ripped off their recipe, but just didn't get the spice right.

Raced on Saturday night, iirc?
Had a cousin that would race Batesville Friday night and then race West plains on Saturday.
