Actually Bama beat #13 UGA and #14 Ole Miss that year with the only loss coming to the eventual national champs, #1 Florida. Oklahoma beat a few overrated big 12 teams and lost to UT. Eh, maybe Bama gets in, maybe they don't. What can't be argued is that both the BCS and Playoff committee seem to favor Bama when it's a close call with another team. That's the perk of being one of the best programs in CFB history and having the GOAT as your head coach.

I do know that Tebow was quoted on the record after playing both Bama and OU as saying that had Bama won the SECCG, they would have rolled OU. He was probably right. And had the playoff system been around, that Bama team is in without question at 12-1 with only one loss to #2 UF. Point in all of that, is that Bama has had a late season loss that knocked them out of the national title picture. So Saban has reason to say what he did, even if it has only affected him once in 11 seasons at Bama.
