USCe football alone representing 21 different majors is impressive as well. That alone requires a great deal of coordination, flexibility, and support by all parties. Great selling point for the program looking to attract quality student athletes.

I wonder how it compares to other SEC schools. Article mentions some schools only have football players in 2 majors, that is astonishing, hard to believe he is correct, given an 85 man scholarship roster and 100+ team roster.

When we opened our Dodie Athletic Academic Enrichment Center is seriously changed things for us ... it really did. It's an incredible facility located right next to our Athletic Department offices (in a twin building) and it is staffed by a really dynamic bunch of tutors and academic councelors who encourage challenging curriculums based on current market trends within the job market ... those trending toward job opportunities upon graduation. And our Sports Marketing and PR schools are excellent because they fall under our very highly rated Darla Moore School of Business. I'll be the first to admit that I never anticipated The Dodie would have the impact it's had in ten short years and it's only getting better. And you're right, it's starting to have a huge positive impact on our recruiting in all sports.

It seems that African American Studies and Community Organizer degrees are all the rage at some schools for some reason. Neither of them are heralded fields in terms of actually finding gainful employment after graduation ... which is why so many ex-athletes, particularly football players, find themselves selling cars or insurance or being insurance estimators or rental car desk managers after graduation if they don't make the NFL ... which so few do. I wish all schools would encourage tougher majors for some of these very capable student athletes rather than steering them down the easier paths. I think more and more schools are starting to get with the program though. Happy, fruitful, well-rounded graduates/alumni are not only good selling points and ambassadors but also are geared more toward contributing financially down the road.
