The SEC that Saban came into at Alabama was light years ahead in strength than what Spurrier came into at Florida. Florida had three programs in all of the SEC that he had to actually contend with (Alabama [until Stallings retired], Tennessee, and Auburn). He got shellacked by DuBose of all people.

Saban has caused people to rewrite their offensive playbooks multiple times. Spurrier was eventually figured out and didn't manage another SEC title after 1996 except 2000, the weakest the SEC has been in the past 20 years.

The rules have been changed multiple times for Saban to try and level the playing field. Saban >>> OBC.

Saban had UF under Myers, LSU under Miles and AU at different times. He has watched UT implode, and Les refuse to change. Saban Achilles heel has be playing against decent QBs. In his ten years at Bama, there have only been a handful of those QBs: Tebow, Cam, Manziel, Murray, Marshall and Stidham. Most of which have beaten him. At least Spurrier faced some decent Defenses.
