I hate to complain, but I'm in a rather rough patch. I've lived in Mexico City for 6 years now, never had a credit card and apparently was involved with the OPM Data Breach (I'm ex-Military and an ex-Contractor, my mother is a federal employee we both got letters) and finally got around to checking in with Equifax and found out two days ago that someone took out a mortgage loan in my name in November of 2017 and several other loans throughout the time for college and apparently a vehicle. Of course, I can't see my debt or credit report because I'm unable to actually verify what those loans were.
I put a freeze on my credit and asked that they flag it, but I'm not sure what my options are being out of the country and not returning for the foreseeable future (at least a year).
I know I need to talk to a lawyer, but I can't go back to America yet -- has anyone had any experience with what I'm going through without the living abroad factor?
But I hope your day is going wonderful, and I love you, wonderful reader.

Contact each of the lenders, put notes on your file. The lenders will let you know what info you will need to provide.
I had about 200k in loans and cards taken out in my name. All with places I had been doing business with at the time. None questioned all my info changing, it wasn't until they applied for a discover card, which I have never even filled out an application for, that I became aware. Discover called me because they knew it was fraud. They did all this in about 3 months.
One was a 100k line of credit in which they proceeded to turn into gift cards on the first day, this was with my primary bank at the time.
All sucked, by cleared.

It's so fricking bizarre how loose companies/banks are with their money. I have no idea what this person has, and I've never filed for a mortgage loan (obviously) but I'd imagine it'd be pretty fricking hard.
My only advice from all of this for now is don't wait to check your credit report, even if you've never established.
