Two more Alabama players enter NCAA transfer portal (BamaOnLine)

Two more Alabama players have entered the transfer portal.

Reserve defensive back Kyriq McDonald and long snapper Scott Meyer have entered their names into the NCAA transfer portal, BamaOnLine has learned. AL.com’s Matt Zenitz was first to report.

McDonald filled a role in the Alabama secondary and on special teams this past season after redshirting his first year in Tuscaloosa. He totaled seven tackles and a quarterback pressure through 11 games of action in his redshirt freshman campaign and was named one of the Alabama coaches’ special teams players of the week for his play against Mississippi State and Auburn.

Alabama signed five defensive backs during the early signing period of the 2019 cycle.

A former walk-on, Meyer acted as the Tide’s primary snapper on extra points and field goal attempts, finishing perfect on all chances, in 2017. He was a reserve behind starter Thomas Fletcher this past season and only saw the field in one game -- Week 12 against The Citadel.

Established in October of last year, the NCAA’s transfer portal now allows student-athletes to merely enter their name into an online database and merely wait for collegiate teams to contact them. It is also worth noting that players can withdraw their name from the portal, too.

Alabama LB Eyabi Anoma enters NCAA transfer portal (BamaOnLine)

A promising Alabama freshman has entered the transfer portal.
Crimson Tide outside linebacker Eyabi Anoma, a former 5-star recruit, has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal, BamaOnLine has learned. AL.com’s Matt Zenitz was first to report.

Appearing in 12 games this season, Anoma registered nine tackles, including two for a loss, while adding one quarterback hurry as a reserve at outside linebacker. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound edge rusher also earned SEC All-Freshman Team honors from the league’s coaches.

Anoma missed one of Alabama’s playoff practices in December for “a personal day, I guess, to sort some things out,” head coach Nick Saban said at the time. He returned to practice the next day.

Anoma was a coveted 5-star recruit during the 2018 recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He was considered the No. 1 weak-side defensive end and player in the state of Maryland and the No. 4 overall prospect in the nation. The Baltimore, Md., native chose Alabama over numerous national offers, including Georgia, Florida, Maryland and Michigan.
