Alabama LB Mack Wilson makes NFL draft decision (BamaOnLine)

Alabama junior linebacker Mack Wilson has made his NFL draft decision. Wilson is expected to forego his senior season with the Crimson Tide and declare for the 2019 NFL Draft, BamaOnLine has learned. AL.com’s Matt Zenitz was first to report Wilson’s intentions.

Wilson was Alabama’s fifth-leading tackler this past season, registering 71 tackles from his Mike linebacker position. The Montgomery, Ala., native also contributed five tackles for loss, one sack, seven quarterback hurries, five pass breakups and two interceptions in 2018.

The former 5-star recruit is CBS Sports’ 55th overall prospect and No. 2 inside linebacker behind Butkus Award winner Devin White of LSU. Earlier in the season, Wilson took to Twitter to congratulate White and teased a return to Alabama in 2019. Reports also surfaced before the end of the season suggesting Wilson would do that. But the rising senior has changed his mind.

Wilson joined seven other Crimson Tide underclassmen to enter their names in the draft, including defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, offensive tackle Jonah Williams, running back Josh Jacobs, tight end Irv Smith Jr., cornerback Saivion Smith and safety Deionte Thompson.

Cornerback Trevon Diggs and defensive lineman Raekwon Davis are players that announced they will return for one more season. That gives Alabama six returning starters on the defensive side of the football for the upcoming 2019-20 campaign.

The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the 2019 NFL Draft is Monday, Jan. 14.
