Is LSU the team to beat for Kevin Harris? (Geaux247)

LSU's push for outside linebackers in the 2019 class brings one name to keep a very close eye on: Georgia's Kevin Harris.

While he attends Grayson High in Loganville, Ga., the four-star prospect is no stranger to LSU's program. With family spread out all over Baton Rouge, a weekend visit to campus - his first as a college football recruit - was one he's waited his entire life for, even calling the Tigers his "dream" offer when the staff came calling with a scholarship.

"All of my family is from Baton Rouge except for me and my sister," Harris told 247Sports recruiting analyst Keith Niebuhr. "It’s always good to go down to Baton Rouge and visit. There are a bunch of LSU fans in my family. I went down there this weekend and I liked what I saw. The intensity was cool watching practice.

"I have visited just once, but growing up in my family, I have seen the campus and everything, but this was my first time going to visit." While on campus, Harris spent a good amount of one-on-one time with LSU head coach Ed Orgeron, a longtime defensive line coach who told the 6-foot-3 and 214-pound junior he could follow in the footsteps of fellow Georgia linebackers like Arden Key, who left Baton Rouge in January to enter this year's NFL Draft.

"I had a good talk with Coach O," Harris said. "He’s been watching me since his sophomore year I heard, and he said 'I have to get this guy on campus'. I got on campus, liked what I saw and I am just taking the weeks off to think on things. It was a great experience for me to get down there and see everything.

"I think (Orgeron's) a great guy. He reminds me of my head coach. He’s pretty cool. We sat down in his office and talked about a lot of stuff. We talked about defensive end things. He brought up Arden Key coming out of Atlanta. He said those kids come out of Atlanta and get to LSU and go pro."

It's not the first time Harris has heard a comparison to Key, a prospect he grew up following both in Georgia and at LSU. "I am a fan," Harris said. "I do watch him a lot. I’m expecting a lot from him. I can’t wait to see what he does in the NFL. I see (similarities), but I am trying to create my own style to deviate my game from other players. But I do pick up a lot from Arden Key."

Harris picked up his first LSU prediction on the 247Sports Crystal Ball this week, and more could follow after the Tigers made a big impression on the four-star prospect at the program's Junior Day this past weekend.

He's ranked by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 135 overall prospect in the 2019 class and the No. 9 outside linebacker prospect in the country.

Clemson and Georgia also hold predictions on the Crystal Ball, while other picks have gone cloudy as Harris navigates through his recruitment process this spring. "The main schools I am focusing on are Miami, FSU, Alabama and LSU," he said.

When could a decision come for one of the Southeast's most-coveted defensive prospects? "Maybe August," Harris said. "I would be on the lookout for August."
