said, I don't want to see him get too soft and sentimental yet---his manic drive is what made him the GOAT

I was slightly concerned about that a few years ago but the last 2-3 have made it clear that he isn't slowing down a bit.

This last recruiting cycle has me slightly nervous the drive and focus may not be what it was, although a sick 2019 class is all it will take to erase those doubts.

The fact that he looked at a Top 6 or whatever class, before it was done, and was so sick about it he basically decided he had to blow up a staff...........AFTER WINNING A NATIONAL TITLE........tells me all I need to know about his commitment to "the standard" and not just tricking himself into thinking we were good so we'll be good.

I think the early singing period smacked the staff in the face sort of like being in the first playoffs did in 2014. We adjusted pretty damn well after that....

I suspect you're right. But as the old saying goes, the proof will be in the pudding. The 2019 class will either "restore order" on the recruiting front or let us know Saban may be slipping. I expect a dominant 2019 class that will finish #1 or #2.
