Behind-the-scenes Alabama staffer leaving program (al.com)

Leah Knight was Alabama's director of football recruitment.

That was first reported by Football Scoop, which cited a desire to be closer to her fiance, who is living in Colorado, as the reason for Knight stepping down.

In other recruiting news, AL.com has confirmed that Alabama is hiring UCLA recruiting coordinator Victoria Ross as a recruiting operations coordinator, as first reported by Football Scoop.

Ross attended Alabama and interned with the Tide last season as a recruiting operations assistant. She had been at UCLA since January.

The 50-year old Jones has been out of work since being fired by the Vols in November.

Jones had been at Tennessee since December 2012 after three seasons as the head coach at Cincinnati and three as the head coach at Central Michigan.

Jones is being paid approximately an $8.2 million buyout by Tennessee, paid in monthly installments until Feb. 2021, according to reports. That number is mitigated by any future salary he earns.

Tennessee hired former Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt as Jones' replacement.
