You may be right but why not pull the trigger against Auburn when you were down by a couple of scores late in that game. At the time that was to keep your championship hopes alive.

We don't know where tua was at that point. He got a ton of first team reps in bowl practice and it's much easier to implement a change with extended practice rather than a single week in the regular season. Also Hurts best games were immediately leading to iron bowl so tougher call to make at that point

The game was 10-7 at half time. If a change like this is to occur, you need a halftime break for everyone to go over their plan and be sure all understand their responsibilities. I imagine that Saban thought that Jalen & Co. could still win the game at halftime.
