He is forgotten now a days but David Lee Roth used to be a great front man for Van Halen. Decent voice and tremendous showman.
Robin Zander has been great as a front man for Cheap Trick. They are one of those bands that just sounds much better in person then they do on a recording.
I wouldn't put Kid Rock in the front man for a band slot. He was the star act and had a band to back him up. While obviously a vaster bigger star the same could be said for Elvis. I'd be inclined to put Bob Dylan in the not so much a front man for a band as the star act with a band backing him up.
Buddy Holly probably would have been one of the all time great frontmen if he had not died in that plane crash. At just 22 years of age and with a love of musical experimentation he could have been a musical force throughout the 60's and possibly into the 70's.
