I just re-watched the game, paying particular attention to the penalties called.

The first half, it was pretty tightly called, with the only really bad call being the “pick” that wiped out a TD. Wims and Godwin were running a scissor route...and the Auburn defender grabbed Wims as he cut inside and two other players got caught in it. That was a bad call.

The late hit against Auburn...honestly, they could have let that one go, but I think what got him the flag was the arm around the waist in a brief attempt at wrapping up. It was hard to see except in the slow motion replay from the field side camera angle, and he dropped it pretty quickly, but I think the official who threw the flag saw it.

The no-calls on Auburn holding with arms extended, and jerseys being stretched right in front of the officials were pretty bad, but it didn’t change the outcome of the game.

Overall, in the heat of the moment, real time, it seemed a lot worse than it was on second glance.

Well, there were NC implications on the line. You can't allow poor officiating to dictate an outcome of a game of that magnitude. The pick call could've sealed our fate.
