Before the championship game:
#4 defense in the nation
#36 offense in the nation
Just in case anyone is interested. I know some of you aren't.
Thought I'd add these little bits for those who said I don't understand what conference were in, and how it works.
Big 12 champion Oklahoma: #61 defense, #1 offense.
PAC 12 champion USC: #73 defense, #13 offense.
AAC champion UCF: #73 defense, #6 offense.
The B10 champion will be Ohio State: #8 defense, #4 offense.
The ACC champion will be Clemson: #6 defense, #24 offense.

When our state starts putting out 5star defensive guys yearly, I'll agree.

Response thread to what? We've been discussing this stuff for a week, and I've been called nearly everything but a human.
I told everyone the numbers don't lie.

Well, that's not even remotely logical. How many 5 star offensive guys does our state put out yearly?

I'd also point out, Smart was a career DC, having passed up multiple head coaching opportunities, and had people wondering why he never got or took a HC job.

Troy. We have been correct about this all week. These guys will see soon enough.

It's like you ignore the basic concept that it's easier to recruit and devlop offensive talent than it is defensive guys because it's almost all instinctive and physicality.
Posted on 12/2/17 at 6:48 pm to Woopigsooie20
And it's like you ignore that's all the more reason why you MUST try even harder to field a better defense. The numbers don't lie. If you don't build a defense, you don't win titles. It's that goddamn simple.

You do realize we just went through 5 years of "build a defense and play smart football" and it gave us the worst 5 year run in our history.
Posted on 12/2/17 at 6:49 pm to BoarEd
Lets worry about getting above .500 before we start talking about titles.

You gotta hire a better defensive coach.

Waiting for his Alma mater. So by that logic, Venables isn’t leaving until Kansas State opens up?

Venables has been an option here for 5 fricking years now.
I swear this program is ran by imbeciles.

Do you listen to yourself when you type? I'm not ignoring the basic concept, I'm acknowledging it.
It's easier to recruit and develop offensive talent, so get yourself an offensive coach? You've got it backwards.
It's harder to recruit and develop defensive talent, so go get a coach who has made a career of doing just that, at the very highest levels.

These people literally don't understand this shite, man. It's like explaining algebra to a 6 year old or something. They are all emotion. No logic.

Yeah. That's the same logic that says West Virginia has Alabama's last three or 4 national championships, and one of LSU's.

I wouldn't dispute any of that much, but they just won the SEC for the first time in 12 years or so. He's doing something different, and I bet I know what it is. Defense. Haven't looked up the numbers, but I bet it's true.

Georgia is in an entirely different place than Arkansas. All they needed in their program was a slight change. Arkansas is undergoing a complete overhaul. We need someone that knows how to build a foundation for a program. That's not a job for a first time head coach.
