That's the thing though. Les was able to beat Saban, more than once. Sure he was ultimately fired because he couldn't do it later on in his career, but that was a result of loyalty to coordinators and a refusal to change. In spite of that the LSU game was still dangerous for Bama.
If Les was given the correct OC, he could do very well

Les beat Saban early in his career precisely because he came in as an outsider and Saban wasn't accustomed to his tactics. Same with Sumlin. Same with Meyer. There's a lesson to be learned there.

Predictably, Les Miles did the exact same thing he did in the BIG XII after beating Bob twice which was copy exactly what Bob was doing and try to beat Bob at Bob's own game thereby making him Bob's conqueror and the new BMOC of the league. Where do you think Les "Mad Hatter" Miles learned his trickery from? He learned it from the Riverboat Gambler himself. That's the fatal arrogance of Les Miles.
