You are asking tRANT to "seriously" make sense of the most ridiculous, nonsensical coaching search that has ever been conducted. Ludicrous question.
My personal opinion is that Currie hasn't been instructed to pursue Les yet. Haslam can't lose this one or his control is over.
If you look at the whole list of people that Clay Travis "supports," Currie has basically avoided all of them at this point other than Jeff Brohm. Mike Leach, Les Miles, Kevin Sumlin, Lane Kiffin and Tee Martin were all on his list.
Currie can't hire those guys, because that would be a win for us and a big fat L for Jimmy Haslam.

not by a huge margin. there have been others including Alabama who went through 3 or 4 rejections before getting a yes. firing a HC can be an adventure; it's all about timing. once the first target declines (or backs out) hang on for the drama.
