You make great points. I don’t think any SEC fan base would love the hire, but I don’t think any could stop it like the they did. We would all accept it, hope for the best, and get ready for another hiring cycle in three years. What Tenn did is unprecedented.
I completely agree though about his fate. With millions on the line coaches have to be expected to be judged for actions off the field too. Art Briles isn’t in jail but will never coach again for similar reasons.

I think there'd be a similar political, media and fan backlash storm at most major universities if it leaked at the 11th hour that their AD was in the process of stealthily hiring and flying back with Greg Schianno to trot him out that evening as their new HC.
