But you'd have been ok with hiring Fulmer when he was first hired, even though he'd never coached a game. Ok, 2 things can be true and the ideas aren't mutually exclusive.

The idea that Schiano is not a good fit for Tennessee as a head football coach can be true. My first reaction when hearing that rumor was how odd of a fit it was. He's a northern guy with very few southern ties and doesn't have the greatest reviews.

But it can also be true that Tennessee fans were disappointed in the hire when they were being told Gruden for weeks and this was the kneejerk reaction. That they were stirred up by Clay Travis on social media and created a toxic, mob like environment that nipped the hire in the bud.

Do I think Schiano was the best hire for Tennessee? No.
Do I think that Tennessee fans overreacted based on minimal information and shouldn't be "proud" of this accomplishment. Yes.
